Mia Coffing, M.Ed., BCBA

Mia believes in the potential of all learners and partnered with parents and community members in the creation of Prospect to bring learning science and this innovative model to Colorado.
Mia has been working in the field of special education for over 20 years, beginning with teaching swim lessons to young kids with disabilities. Since college, she has worked in a variety of settings, primarily teaching reading, math, and writing, and social, adaptive and behavioral skills to students from varied backgrounds and ability levels. Prior to starting Prospect, Mia started and ran a successful learning center, worked as a learning support specialist at KIPP Sunshine Peak Academy, and was an outreach and consultant behavior analyst for Firefly Autism, schools, and families.
Mia has an undergraduate degree in biological psychology from Dartmouth College, and a masters in special education and behavior analysis from Vanderbilt University. She is a licensed behavior analyst, a licensed special education generalist (Colorado), and a licensed special education administrator (Colorado).

I am thrilled to work alongside this amazing staff at Prospect Academy, the energy here is unmatched and the vision is truly impeccable. I feel honored to work in such a unique and one of a kind learning environment.
I graduated from High Point University with a degree in K-6 elementary education and a masters in educational leadership, K-12. I started my educational career in Thomasville, NC teaching third grade in 2015. I instantly fell in love with teaching students from all cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I taught 3rd grade for four years and became a high school assistant principal soon after.
I've worked as both an assistant principal and principal over the last four years. My favorite part of mentorship is growing leaders and developing relationships with kids.
In my free time you will catch me watching Ohio State football, spending time with my partner, and catching up with my amazing family.
