SEL at Prospect Academy

At Prospect Academy, we believe that nurturing the social and emotional well-being of our students is just as vital as their academic growth. That's why Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is intentionally woven into the fabric of our school culture and curriculum.

Each week, our dedicated educators utilize a variety of engaging and evidence-based resources to bring SEL to life in the classroom:

  • We implement the Be Good People curriculum on a weekly basis. This program provides structured lessons and activities focused on key SEL competencies such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

  • Recognizing the importance of navigating the online world safely and responsibly, we integrate the Common Sense Education Digital Citizenship weekly. Students learn critical skills in areas like online safety, privacy, cyberbullying prevention, and responsible digital communication, empowering them to be ethical and informed digital citizens.

  • We also incorporate the use of movies as a powerful tool for teaching SEL concepts. Carefully selected films provide relatable scenarios and characters that allow students to explore complex emotions, understand different perspectives, and discuss ethical dilemmas in a meaningful and engaging way.

We believe that equipping our students with strong SEL skills will not only contribute to their success in school but also empower them to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.
